Dick spoke of Jan’s caring and giving spirit, and her beauty, both inwardly and outwardly. Jan reciprocated, highlighting Dick’s compassion, his willingness to listen and help, and his wonderful sense of humor.

As for when they knew they were in love with each other, Dick said he was immediately in love with her, and emotionally, in love within their first year of dating. For Jan, she fell in love with Dick about a year after they met.
